Absolutely. You don't need any previous driving experience. Lessons start with the basics and build your skills and confidence step by step.

Yes. You need a valid provisional driving licence before you can take driving lessons or practise driving on public roads.

No. You can start your practical driving lessons before passing your theory test. You will need to pass your theory test before taking your practical driving test.

Yes. Whether you've had a few lessons, taken a break from learning or are changing instructors, we'll assess where you are and continue from your current level.

Lessons are generally 2 hours by default, as this gives us plenty of time to make meaningful progress and experience a wider range of roads and situations.

60-minute and 90-minute lessons are also available where they better suit your needs or availability.

Lessons are arranged around your availability wherever possible. Weekly lessons are my preferred way of teaching, as regular sessions help you maintain progress and build skills steadily around your normal commitments.

I do not routinely offer intensive courses, as I believe regular, consistent tuition provides a better fit for most learners.

Yes, where practical. Home pick-up and drop-off at a local college can usually be arranged if it is agreed in advance and works with the lesson schedule. I will always confirm the arrangements beforehand.

Yes. Refresher lessons are available for full licence holders who are returning to driving after a break, have lost confidence or simply want to improve particular areas of their driving.

Lessons can be tailored to your needs, whether that means general confidence, junctions, roundabouts, parking, manoeuvres or another specific area.

Yes. I encourage smooth, efficient driving as part of good everyday driving. We can work on forward planning, smooth acceleration and progressive braking, appropriate gear selection and avoiding unnecessary fuel use — while always putting safety first.

Yes. Drive With Joe is an independent driving school, so you'll learn with Joe in the same manual, dual-controlled Ford Fiesta throughout your training, subject to normal servicing and maintenance.

Lessons are based in Stowmarket, Suffolk and the surrounding areas. If you're unsure whether your location is covered, get in touch and we can discuss it.

Absolutely. You won't be expected to jump straight into situations you're not ready for. We'll start at a level you're comfortable with and gradually build your skills and confidence.

Mistakes are a normal part of learning. The aim is to create a calm, patient environment where you can learn without feeling pressured.

Yes. If a previous experience has knocked your confidence, there's no need to feel embarrassed about starting again. We'll establish where you are, identify what you need to work on and progress at a pace that suits you.

Yes. Theory support can be incorporated into your driving lessons, and I also offer one-to-one 60-minute theory training sessions covering the areas you need help with.

Yes. I offer mock driving tests to all my pupils as a key part of their test preparation. They are designed to give you realistic experience of what a practical driving test is like, help you manage nerves and identify any areas that still need attention before the real test.

Where appropriate, the mock will cover the key elements of the real test, including an eyesight check, vehicle safety questions, general driving, independent driving, a reversing manoeuvre and an emergency stop. You'll receive clear feedback afterwards so we can use the result to plan your final lessons.

We'll regularly review your progress throughout your lessons. Mock tests are an important part of this process and help us assess how you perform without prompting in a realistic test environment. When you're consistently demonstrating the skills, judgement and independence expected at test standard, including being able to complete mock tests without prompting, we'll discuss whether you're ready to take your test.

Yes. Your practical driving test can normally be taken in the same dual-controlled Ford Fiesta you've been learning in.

Don't panic. We'll review your test result, identify what needs more work and make a plan for your next test. A failed test doesn't mean you've failed at learning to drive.

I will review your enquiry and get back to you as promptly as possible between lessons. We can then discuss your experience, availability and what you would like to achieve.

If we are a good fit, we will agree a suitable regular lesson schedule and arrange your first lesson.

I focus on regular weekly lessons rather than intensive courses. I find that consistent tuition gives most pupils time to develop their skills properly and fits more naturally around work, college and other commitments.
